Getting the Best from Body Massage Therapy
Check in during treatment
It is important to continue to guide the client through the session. The therapist needs to keep open communication with the client to find out if the pressure is comfortable , and if not, why not. The therapist should address verbal and non-verbal cues from the client. It could be “too specific for a location”, like an elbow pressure on a bone, or it could be that the pressure is over a traumatized area, like a previous surgery or fall and the area should not be having any pressure applied, or a different method should be used in that particular area.
If the therapist is not performing the treatment so that the client is actually receiving good therapy, it will slow their recovery and recovery time. The client can learn how to give constructive feedback to the therapist so that it will benefit both of them during the session.
